Mac mini M6 / M5 Pro (2026): Refurbished, Specs & Repairs
A tiny desktop with Apple’s newest chip
The Mac mini (2026) is Apple’s smallest and most affordable desktop Mac, now available with the new M6 chip or the more powerful M5 Pro. It measures just 12.7cm across, yet it handles everyday work, photo editing, music production and coding with ease.
It has two USB-C ports and a headphone socket on the front, with HDMI, Ethernet and three Thunderbolt ports on the back. Apple released it on 22 September 2026, so refurbished and used examples are only just starting to appear.
Refurbished Apple silicon Macs we sell are checked by our technicians and come with a 24-month warranty. Ask us about sourcing one, browse our refurbished Mac mini range, or book a repair if you already own one.
About This Model
The Mac mini M6 / M5 Pro (2026) was announced on 25 August 2026 and replaced the 2024 Mac mini with M4 and M4 Pro. The M6 is Apple’s first chip made on a 2-nanometre process. UK prices started at £899 for the M6 model and £1,699 for the M5 Pro model.
Complete Mac Solutions supplies refurbished Apple Macs in Bristol for home users, students and businesses. We can help you source a suitable configuration and advise whether a Mac mini, Mac Studio or laptop best fits your work.
Which Mac mini does this cover?
This guide covers the 2026 Mac mini with the M6 or M5 Pro chip. It uses the same small design as the 2024 Mac mini, so the case alone will not tell you which one you have.
Choose About This Mac from the Apple menu to check the chip, memory and model year. An M6 or M5 Pro chip confirms this model, while M4 or M4 Pro means the 2024 version. On the back, the M5 Pro model has Thunderbolt 5 ports and the M6 model has Thunderbolt 4.

Ask us to confirm the exact configuration of any machine we source. Memory and storage are chosen when the Mac is built, so the configuration you buy is the one it keeps.
What is it useful for?
The M6 model suits browsing, office work, study, photo editing, home music production and coding. It is quick and almost silent, and it gives most home and office users more performance than they need.
The M5 Pro model suits heavier creative and technical work, including video editing, larger music projects, software development and running AI models locally. Its Thunderbolt 5 ports also allow very fast external storage and several M5 Pro Mac minis can be linked together for AI workloads.
Choose memory and storage around your software and files. For most people, the M6 with enough memory is better value than paying extra for the M5 Pro.
A Mac for Bristol students
Bristol students who already have a monitor can get a fast, current Mac for much less than a high-end laptop. The M6 model handles essays, research, coding and creative coursework comfortably, and its small size suits shared accommodation.
A Mac mini needs a separate display, keyboard and mouse, and it cannot travel to lectures. If you need to work on campus, a laptop such as the MacBook Air 13-inch M5 (2026) may suit you better. Ask about our student deals.
Macs for businesses
Complete Mac Solutions supplies Macs for businesses as well as individuals. Tell us which applications, displays and peripherals your team uses so we can help you choose a suitable configuration.
The Mac mini is a cost-effective desktop for offices, shops and studios. The M6 model suits general office work, while the M5 Pro model suits design, development and media teams. The optional 10Gb Ethernet is useful for fast shared storage.
macOS compatibility
As a brand-new Apple silicon Mac, this model runs the current version of macOS and should receive macOS updates for many years. That gives it a much longer working life than older Intel Mac mini models.
Some older Intel-only applications and plug-ins may not run. Check that the software you depend on supports current macOS and Apple silicon before you buy.
Memory and storage choices
The unified memory is part of the chip and cannot be upgraded later. We recommend choosing at least 24GB if you plan to edit video, work with large music projects or run AI tools.
Internal storage cannot be expanded in the usual way either, but external SSDs over Thunderbolt or USB-C are fast and affordable. Ask us about storage options before deciding.
Repairs and support
New Mac mini machines come with Apple’s one-year limited warranty, and many owners also buy AppleCare+. Check whether a machine is still covered before arranging any repair, as independent work may affect what Apple will do.
Startup and power problems
Failure to start, unexpected restarts or a machine that will not wake from sleep need diagnosis. Tell us what happens when you press the power button on the underside and whether any devices were connected.
Ports and connected equipment
Test the Thunderbolt, USB-C, HDMI and Ethernet connections you rely on, along with displays and docks. Problems can sometimes come from cables, adapters or software rather than the Mac itself.
Storage and data
If you need files from a Mac mini that will not start, ask about data recovery before any repair or reset. Regular backups are essential, as the storage is built in.
Complete Mac Solutions can discuss Mac mini repairs in Bristol and help you work out the best option for your machine, including when Apple warranty or AppleCare+ cover is the better route.
Buying a refurbished Mac mini M6 / M5 Pro (2026)
Confirm the chip, CPU and GPU core counts, memory, SSD capacity, Ethernet option and any remaining Apple warranty or AppleCare+. Check that the Mac has been removed from the previous owner’s Apple Account and any business device management.
